Description
Oil lamp for lighting made in a mould with handle on the distal end. It has two main parts: store for the fuel and a spout for the wick. The store has a lid with a hole which is used to introduce the oil. This also lets the air encourage the flame. As is common in lamps of this type, the disc-shaped surface has a decoration in relief made in the same mould. In this case it represents the head of a mythological animal. On the base is the mark of the potter (LVC) inside a stamp shaped like a planta pedis (sole of foot).
