Description
Bottle with tall throat, decorated in green and manganese with cufic legend al mulk ('power'). It is very in keeping with Cordoban products from Madinat al-Zahra. It is a luxury piece from the site at Mesas de Asta, which has produced a rich and varied range of Hispano-Muslim ceramics mostly from the Caliphal period. The existence of these quality products at this site points to the presence of a governor or some form of political control there, representing central rule in Cordoba.
