Description
Bottle or jug with pouring spout and decorated with stylised geometric and plant motifs. It is a good example of ceramics produced in 11th century Jerez for the local markets. It was found inside one of the ovens discovered during excavations at the Plaza del Arenal. Pottery workshops in Islamic cities were normally found "extra muro" (outside the city walls) or in sparsely populated areas inside the walls to spare the neighbourhood the annoyance of the smoke produced during the manufacturing process.
