Description
Classic La Tène I fibula. The bow is semicircular with hemispheric section. At the head is a bilateral spring with six turns on each side that crosses from one side to the other by a cord on the exterior of the bow. The fibula pin extends from the spring. At that time, an acorn-shaped foot (missing today) must have begun at the end of the catch plate. This type of fibula originated in central Europe in the second quarter of the 5th century B.C. - a typical object from the area's Celtic tribes. This model then spread across the Iberian Peninsula between the end of the 5th century and early 4th century B.C. and lasted right up to the 1st century B.C. It can be dated back to the second half of the 2nd century B.C. as this type of fibula is not common to Western Andalusia, perhaps due to the absence of funereal finds of that time in the area.
